This Film.

Since the era of Amelie in the early 2000s, my admiration for Audrey Tautou has increased consistently. It is because of her that I first discovered this film at all.

Coco Before Chanel, is based on the life of Coco Chanel and how she journeyed from an orphan to the powerhouse designer that she was.

The perfection in the cinematography, the clothes, the acting, the set design is only dwarfed by the story itself, and the homage to the tenacious spirit that was Coco. I remain in awe of her disgust at the status quo. She brushed shoulders with the French nobility and notable names of society at the time, and whilst she was a poor outsider, she gave no regard to fitting in. The opposite, she went out of her way to defiantly stand out, and eventually they ended up bending to her artistic eye and ideas.

What a gift this film is.

I come away from every viewing feeling more empowered, daring, and less caring of what others think. I wish the same for you.
